In Memory of Pat Tillman
This is something that is very sad. For anyone not aware, Pat Tillman played for the Arizona Cardinals until he gave up a $3+ million contract to go to Afghanistan and fight for our country. Most celebrities and people of priviledge expect media recognition even for donating a small amount of money to some cause, but Mr. Tillman wanted no fanfare, no media coverage, because it was something he believed in, something he believed was right.
It is the Soldier, not the reporter who has given us freedom of press
It is the Soldier, not the poet who has given us freedom of speech
It is the Soldier, not the campus organizer who gives us freedom to demonstrate
It is the Soldier who salutes the flag,
who serves beneath the flag,
and whose coffin is draped by the flag,
who allows the protester to burn the flag.
